Why Travis Kelce Wears 87 on His Chiefs Jersey

TRAVIS KELCE HAS had a tremendous season with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The tight end faces the Miami Dolphins tonight in the Chiefs' NFL wildcard game, which will start his journey to the upcoming Super Bowl.

Kelce will be wearing his customary 87 jersey in what is predicted to be a cold game, but why does he wear that number?

Additionally, Kelce's jersey number has a very special meaning when he wears it on the field, much like his girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Who is well-known for including references and Easter eggs into the lyrics of her songs.

Prior to the 2023 Super Bowl, Kelce gave an explanation of why he chose his jersey number: it was a deliberate tribute to his brother, Jason Kelce, an offensive tackle with the Philadelphia Eagles.

"If there is a Kelce legacy, two brothers making it to the NFL, it all started in 1987, because this big guy was born in 1987," Travis stated to NFL Films.

In response, Jason said it was "very cool" to be recognized in that manner.
