Only four NFL clubs have never competed in the Super Bowl. Out of 32 NFL franchises, 20 have won the Super Bowl, while eight have played but not won the championship.

Prior to the inception of the Super Bowl, two of the NFL's most iconic franchises, the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions, won NFL championships. However, they have yet to play in the Super Bowl.

And two relatively young NFL organizations, the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars, are still looking for their first Super Bowl appearance.

Here's what you should know about the four clubs who have never won the Super Bowl.The Lions won four NFL title games in 1935, 1952, 1953, and 1957, but have yet to reach the Super Bowl since its inception in 1966.

The Lions have made the playoffs only 13 times since their last championship. They ended a 31-season run without a postseason win by defeating the Los Angeles Rams in the 2023 wild-card round. 

 Detroit's only other playoff win over that time helped them get to the NFC championship game against Washington in 1991.

The Lions lost that game 41-10, and Washington went on to win Super Bowl 26 that season.
