VW and Magna-Steyr agreement to develop Scout SUV and pickup.

South Carolina to build $500M EV off-roaders in 2026.

Volkswagen announced in May 2022 that Scouts "will be designed, engineered, and manufactured in the U.S. for American customers."

 Five months later, Automobilwoche said VW was in talks with Magna International about "managing the comeback of the Scout brand."

Something happened during development and engineering. The story merely referenced Magna developing the 2026 battery-electric pickup and SUV.

 leaving the question of whether VW will construct the Scout in the U.S. Kleine Zeitung (translated) reported that Magna-Steyr, Magna's Austrian subsidiary.

signed its largest-ever development deal worth 450 million euros ($492M U.S.) to produce the two new Scouts in three years.
